Borrowing Library Material

Current members of The New School community can check out materials from our collections at any of the three Library locations on campus. If you are unsure if you have these borrowing privileges, see What do I have access to?

Cant find what you're looking for?

If you can't find what you're looking for in our collections, it may be available at another library.

As a member of The New School community, you have access to collections from libraries in NYC and across the country. To learn how to borrow materials from other libraries, see our FAQ or email libhelp@newschool.edu for help finding what you're looking for.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a nationwide service that can be used to request books or DVDs, as well as book chapter scans and article scans.

You can make a request or check the status any open requests by signing in to your ILL page or emailing libhelp@newschool.edu. You will be notified by email when articles or book chapters have been delivered to you in electronic format, or when books are available to be checked out.

Watch our How to Access Interlibrary Loan video tutorial or read the FAQ on ILL for detailed instructions.

EZBorrow

EZBorrow delivers physical items such as books and DVDs to The New School.  Please see instructions in this FAQ, or view our step-by-step video tutorial on requesting books that are in the library catalog

When your request arrives at The New School, you will receive an email notification.  Books can be borrowed for 16 weeks and cannot be renewed.
