Digitized versions of Harper's Bazaar (1867-present), UK Harper's Bazaar (1929-1969), Vogue (1892-present), and Vogue Italia (1964-present) are available through the New School Libraries databases for New School-affiliated users.
The New School Libraries collection also includes historical issues of Harper's Bazaar (1927-present) and Vogue (1940-present) magazines. These are bound together and are organized according to date of publication.
Issues of Vogue from 1950-1999 are located behind the 6th floor information desk at the University Center Library and issues from 2000-current are available in the stacks located on the 7th floor of the University Center Library. Issues of 1940s Vogue and all issues of Harper's Bazaar are held offsite and can be requested to be sent to your preferred library location within two to three business days.
- Library users may request up to 3 volumes at a time.
- The volumes cannot be removed from the library.
- Scanning is permitted using our touch-screen book scanners.
PLEASE HANDLE THESE MATERIALS WITH CARE AS THEY ARE EASILY DAMAGED AND IN MANY CASES, IRREPLACEABLE.
Pre-1940 issues of Vogue are part of Archives and Special Collections. To request specific issues of pre-1940 issues of Vogue, please write to SpecColl@newschool.edu with the year and volume you would like to consult during a scheduled appointment in the Archives reading room. A minimum of two weeks advance notice is required.
Faculty may request pre-1940 issues to view with their classes by appointment in the University Center Library’s Quiet Study Room, along with other Special Collections items. The Vogue issues published after 1940 are not part of Special Collections and may not be consulted by classes in the Quiet Study Room.
