About Reserves
The New School Libraries provide access to course content including articles, books, statistical sources, videos, scores, etc. through Canvas or any of The New School Libraries’ locations.
Placing materials on reserve ensures that:
- Materials are assessed for fair use and used in accordance with copyright law;
- Access is stable and secure;
- Potential non-tuition costs are limited for students.
Fall 2024
The New School Libraries remain dedicated to helping you plan for Fall 2024 and beyond, providing you and your students access to the resources you need.
This Fall marks the debut of our new and improved Course Reserves system! To get started, go to the “Course Reserves (Fall 2024)” within your course(s) in Canvas. You may copy your readings from a previous course to a course you are currently teaching or create a new reading list. The New Course Reserves Guide and the video, “Getting Started with Leganto,” offer quick walkthroughs.
Request Your E-Reserves
Request your course materials through the Course Reserves service in Canvas as soon as possible. While course assignments may change or be added at the last minute, the more lead time we have to get the material ready for you, the better, particularly if content needs to be licensed–such as streaming video–or requires copyright clearance.
The New School Libraries provide online access to academic resources including articles, books, case studies, statistical sources, etc. Physical reserves are available at all library locations for material that cannot be provided online. The Libraries also provide scanning services for material that is in our physical collection, but we may need to secure copyright permission depending on the amount requested. Please note that print book delivery may take up to 8 weeks, so put your requests in early!
