The American Council for Emigres in the Professions was founded in 1945 by Dr. Else Staudinger and Dr. Alvin Johnson. Its purpose was to provide aid, counselling and placement for refugees of the Second World War who had been professionals--doctors, lawyers, engineers, scholars, in their homelands. Material herein consists of correspondence, meeting minutes, photographs, and name and subject files.
