The New School Libraries & Archives offer a number of services to faculty and students to support their research and coursework.

Reference staff can be consulted anytime to answer questions about locating information both inside and outside of the New School Libraries & Archives and the Consortium or to purchase materials needed for class. Reference staff are sometimes referred to as "selectors" since one of their responsibilities is choosing materials to purchase within various disciplines taught throughout the university.

Reserves Processing staff collect syllabi for faculty wishing to place material on reserve and refer new material requests to selectors for review. The reserves processing department is then responsible for acquiring, licensing, and processing materials in order to comply with fair use policies of the university.
