All materials should be returned to the library from which they were borrowed. You are responsible for returning all Fogelman materials directly to this library in good condition. Return Scherman books to the circulation desk on or before the due date stamped in the back of the book. Return books to the lobby drop box when the Library is closed during August.

Renewing Library Materials

Open stack books may be renewed twice, unless another borrower has requested the book. Overdue fines must be paid before you can renew a book. Seven day and two hour reserve books may not be renewed. Faculty may inquire at the Circulation Desk about mail renewal services. Convenient ways to renew books: You can renew books without having the books in hand. Stop by the Circulation Desk with your valid student I.D. and we'll renew your books (except Reserves and 2-hour-loan items).

You can also renew books over the telephone or over the Web. Have your student ID in hand, because your barcode number & student ID number will be needed.

View your library record in BobCat. You can now view your library record in BobCat. Check the correctness of your name, address, phone number; items checked out to you and their due dates, items on hold; and fines.

Lost Library Materials

Library material not returned within 50 days of the due date or recalled material not returned within 14 days of the first recall notice are assumed to be lost and are subject to replacement costs. A replacement bill consists of :

The purchase price quoted from Books in Print or, if not in print, the replacement price as determined by the University Libraries;

  A $10.00 processing fee. The purchase price, but not the processing fee, will be refunded for any item returned within one year from the date the bill was paid.

Contact the Circulation Department (212.580.0210 x4803) to resolve problems with lost, stolen, or long overdue books. Library delinquencies may result in suspension of borrowing privileges, withholding of grades and degree, and possible legal action.

Placing Library Holds on Returned Materials

If you cannot locate a book on the shelf, check in BOBCAT, the online catalog, to see if someone else has borrowed the book. If the book is on loan, you may recall the item via BOBCAT to be held for you when it is returned. When the book comes back, we will notify you and hold the book for you at the Circulation Desk.

Change of Address

Since you are obligated to respond to overdue, recall, and fine notices, please inform the Library of any change of address and/or telephone changes. YOU ARE LIABLE FOR FINES AND PROCESSING FEES WHETHER OR NOT MAILED NOTICES OR BILLS ARE RECEIVED.

Library Assisted Searches for Materials

If you cannot locate a book on the shelf even though the BobCat status is "Available", the Circulation Desk will search for the book at your request. If we locate the book, we will notify you, and hold the book at the Circulation Desk. If the book cannot be located, the library may be able to secure another copy of the book through Inter-Library Loan (ILL).
