Leopold Mannes (1899-1964) was son of the founders of Mannes School of Music, David and Clara (Damrosch) Mannes. Leopold became director of the school in 1940. Mannes and his friend Leopold Godowsky, Jr., also a musician, invented a process of color photography that became known as Kodachrome. Mannes was also a musician. This collection contains music manuscripts of Leopold Mannes' compositions including arrangements of pieces by other composers such as Bach and Faure.
